Ryan Anderson, of Ray, Minn., crossed the finish line in Fort Kent at about 4 a.m. today to win the 250-mile Irving Can-Am Crown race in a running time of 31 hours, 22 minutes, 16 seconds.
Thirteen teams entered the race, which is billed as the longest and highest-caliber sled dog race in the eastern U.S. and which serves as a qualifier for Alaska¹s Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Besides the 250-mile race, the 21st annual Can-Am Crown Sled Dog Races also featured 30- and 60-mile races that were run on Saturday.
