MANKATO —
Callie Looft had a hat trick and Julie Snelson added two goals as Mankato West defeated St. Peter/Le Sueur-Henderson/Tri-City United 8-1 in a nonconference girls hockey game Tuesday.
Snelson also had two assists and Looft had one. Justine Scheller, Courtney Bloemke and Cassie Rigdon also scored for West.
The Scarlets outshot the Bulldogs 39-20. Maggie Cousey picked up the win and Veronica Sinell took the loss.
Hannah Kleschult had the only goal for SPLSHTCU. Kelsey Skelly and Bailey Wilmes had assists.
West returns to the ice at 5:30 p.m. Thursday with a game against local rival Mankato East/Loyola at All Seasons Arena. The Bulldogs (4-11) are back in action Friday against Dodge County at Kasson.
East/Loyola boys 10, SPHP 2: Brent Adams led East/Loyola with a hat trick in a nonconference boys hockey win over St. Paul Highland Park Tuesday at St. Paul.
Grayson Gavin had three assists for the Cougars and Shane Sellner had a goal and two assists. The Cougars outshot St. Paul 41-14.
Jeremia Merela was in goal for East, making 12 saves.
East/Loyola (5-8-1) is at home against local rival Mankato West Thursday.
Lourdes 3, West boys 2: Derek Frentz and Nate Krueger scored goals for Mankato West in the nonconference loss to Rochester Lourdes Tuesday in Rochester.
Max Mettler had an assist for the Scarlets. Jake Spiess made 30 saves in the West loss.
West (11-3) plays East/Loyola at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at All Seasons Arena.
