The Mankato East boys soccer team and the St. Peter girls will open Class A state tournament play on Friday.
East will play third-seeded Rochester Lourdes at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Cougars, who won the Section 2A title with a 1-0 win over Fairmont on Friday, are 10-8-2. Lourdes is 19-1.
If East wins, it will play the winner of No. 2-seed Prairie Seeds Academy and Duluth Marhall at the Metrodome on Oct. 29.
In the other bracket, St. Paul Academy and Summit School is the top seed in the tournament and will play Waconia. No. 4 St. Paul Como Park will play No. 5 St. Cloud Cathedral.
In the girls tournament, St. Peter (14-6-0) will take on top-seeded Benilde-St. Margaret’s (18-0-1) at 5:30 p.m. at Park High School in Cottage Grove.
The winner will take on either No. 4 South St. Paul or No. 5 Kasson-Mantorville on Oct. 29 at the Metrodome.
In the other bracket, second-seeded Blake plays Alexandria, and No. 3 Totino-Grace plays Cloquet.

Schmitz, New Ulm win boys SCC golf meet
