Free films: St. Peter continues monthly documentary screenings

ST PETER — The monthly documentary series in St. Peter continues today with a showing of “Pricele$$.”

The Nicollet County Historical Society and St. Peter Community and Family Education partner to offer free screenings of documentaries on the first Thursday of each month. This represents the fourth year in which the series has been offered to the public.

“’Pricele$$’ is a filmmaker's personal journey across America to answer a provocative question: Why are some of our government’s most basic policies, like food and energy, so out-of-date, and can anything be done about it?

“The filmmakers set out on a spellbinding -- and at times hilarious -- ride from rural America to the halls of Congress.”

The film is 58 minutes in length.

“Let There Be Light”: This 1946 documentary was commissioned by the U.S. Army Signal Corps and follows 75 U.S. Soldiers who sustained debilitating emotional trauma and depression. In 2010, the film was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
