Five different players scored goals for the St. Peter/Le Sueur-Henderson/Tri-City United on Tuesday in a 5-1 victory over Mankato East/Loyola in the first round of the Section 1A Tournament.
Austin Braun, Luke Regner and Brett Zallek had one goal and one assist apiece for the Bulldogs. Sam Wenner and Brock Solomon also scored goals, and Ryan Hoehn had two assists.
East/Loyola’s only goal was scored by Brad Johnson with an assist from Grayson Gavin.
The Bulldogs outshot the Cougars 34-25. Chris Amsden got the win and Jeremiah Merela took the loss.
The Bulldogs (13-12-1) will travel to Rochester for a 7 p.m. game Thursday against No. 1 seed Rochester Lourdes.
East/Loyola’s season ends with a 9-16-1 record.
Faribault 8, Waseca 2: Connor Wierschem had two goals and two assists to lead the Falcons over the visiting Bluejays in the Section 1A playoffs.
Faribault’s Luke Thom had two goals and an assist.
For Waseca, J.P. Eykyn and Wyatt Krampitz had goals. Cody Ulfers had an assist.
Cody Morsching got the win; Austin Stroda took the loss.
The Falcons will play Thursday at New Prague.
Waseca’s season ends at 8-18-0.
In other Section 1A action Tuesday, Albert Lea defeated La Crescent 7-1 and will play Thursday at Northfield. Red Wing held off Austin with a 3-2 double-overtime win and plays Thursday at Mankato West.
