"Ding-dong ditcher" gets donged by homeowner

—

A Farmington man is accused of roughing up a boy who allegedly played a doorbell prank.

Police say the man was fed up with so called "ding-dong ditchers" ringing his doorbell and running away, so he waited one night until the troublemakers returned.

Authorities say 45-year-old David Dykhuizen chased them down and tackled one boy. The boy told investigators he was thrown against a fence, punched in the ribs and dragged into the street by his hair. Police say he suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Dykhuizen told the St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/OfEuE1 ) there's a "tremendous amount of lying" on the boy's part.

The criminal complaint says Dykhuizen acknowledged pulling to boy into the street to get a better look at him.

Dykhuizen is charged with felony third-degree assault.
