Worthington school shuts down bullying Twitter account

— Law enforcement has helped Worthington school administrators shut down a Twitter account they say was set up to bully high school students.

Worthington District 518 Administrator John Landgaard says formal charges against those responsible will be pursued. The page was set up on Twitter's public forum as WHSTrojanGossip.

Authorities say it included sexually explicit, derogatory and false statements about high school students. Landgaard worked with Worthington police to suspend the account, set up by an unnamed person or group of people.

Landgaard tells the Worthington Daily Globe (http://bit.ly/Mm11t7 ) he has a half page of names of high school students and graduates who may have played a role in the forum. He says there are parents who should "wake up" and start checking on what their kids are doing, whether they're 14 or 20.
